Claire Croxton's novel "Redneck Ex" will have you eagerly turning the pages as you enter into the life of Summer Leigh, a life that just gets turned upside down with a knock at her door. Summer Leigh has moved on in her life, physically and emotionally, as she now lives in Alaska, miles and miles away from her ex-husband and his family as well as her own. One morning a knock on her door brings Summer Leigh back into the life of her ex-husband Dwight as he is injured and lying in a hospital in Germany and Summer Leigh is listed as his next of kin. Not only does Summer Leigh have Dwight immersed back into her life, but Josh, Dwight's roommate, and Anton, the brother of another injured man, also work their way into her heart. Summer Leigh finds herself thrown into the midst of Dwight's large family and also in the midst of a mystery back in her town of Barrow, Alaska.
This is a well-written romance that will keep the reader turning page after page as Summer Leigh is such a lovable, real character, who finds herself struggling with everyday things and then some out of the ordinary things as well! I felt as if I was traveling all around to these areas with the characters as the author did such an excellent job with creating the scenes throughout this book. The dialogue and the interactions among the various characters are well-written and that is the strong point of this novel! Summer Leigh and her mother have a strong relationship with each other, and the relationship she has with her ex-in-laws is sweet and complicated at the same time, not to mention Summer Leigh and Dwight's relationship as they have the past love, misunderstandings and now the present trials to work through with each other. This is an excellent, sizzling read for the start of summer!
