Rekindled Love is a mystery romance novel by Lars Bjerregaard Jessen. It's the summer, and Anders is spending a relaxed evening watching his son and his two friends snorkeling and hunting fish in the ocean when suddenly he finds himself traipsing down memory lane to reminisce about his childhood sweetheart, Cecile. While a seemingly unhurried motorboat sails toward his son and his friends, Anders revisits his memories of a summer when he was a seventeen-year-old teenager head over heels in love with Cecile. But things never worked out for him and Cecile as, soon after that summer, Anders spent a year in the United States and then traveled east to experience different countries and cultures. However, he could never get Cecile out of his mind. What's in store for Anders in the future?
With a delicious mix of romance, mystery, and the surreal, Lars Bjerregaard Jessen tells a captivating tale of young love and its lasting effect on a person's life. Rekindled Love is a contemporary romance novel full of nostalgic fervor featuring characters who are trying to find their place in this world. The narrative is somewhat of a slow burn but all the more rewarding for it. Anders and Cecile's love story is at the center of it all, and as a reader, it's a joy to follow their story arcs. The lovers spend a lifetime being pen pals but feel like true soulmates driven apart by the whims of fate. I personally found the ending very satisfying as the author finishes the story on a hopeful note. If you enjoy coming-of-age stories about first love, you will absolutely love this book!
