Requiem for Betrayal is an espionage thriller by Ephraim. Brad James is busy with a recording when his friend Gary contacts him. Their friend, Boomer, is found murdered, and his death looks more like revenge than a professional kill. Boomer was looking into the alliances between the Cubans and Black September. Boomer found something big involving the Cubans and Black September in Paris, but there is no record of what he found. Brad is given a list of the three names that Boomer was investigating, and he must use his connections to find answers. It turns out that Boomer’s death is related to a Cuban terrorist plot. Brad’s investigation leads him to Yolanda, who is in great danger because of her connections. Brad must protect Yolanda, and he will do anything to keep her safe.
Requiem for Betrayal is jam-packed with action from the first page until the end. It was fast-paced and kept me engrossed, wanting to know what would happen next. Ephraim writes in a way that persuades one to keep reading. It was a rollercoaster ride with espionage, murder, and lies. I could not put it down; I was too afraid I would miss something. It was a page-turner, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were excellently developed. They are introduced in a way so that I got to know them and their backgrounds. The story is well-written and an excellent espionage thriller. The ending was a big surprise; I did not see it coming. It fits after all the twists and turns.
