Restoring Love: A Sentimental Journey by Bonnie Engstrom is a sweet romance that takes the characters on a journey where they rediscover love and enjoy it once more. Jenni is a teacher who is taking a break from teaching and a stressful life by going to that one place where she found true happiness all those years ago. When she goes back to the small town, she wishes for simple things: the chef makes delicious food, her favorite hotel has remained the same, and Jake. Jake is what made this place extra special for her, his smiles and his passionate kisses made her fall in love with the poor but strong boy. Now that years have passed, she is hoping to relax, let loose and enjoy the company of the boy she loved all those years ago. Little did she know that a lot has changed and Jake is no longer a boy or poor! What will happen when these two will meet again? Can they rekindle the love they had when they were young or was it just a dream?
This fast paced novel keeps the flow steady and makes sure that the reader knows who and what is important to the characters. I enjoyed the chemistry between Jenni and Jake (cute!), how they enjoyed the innocent love they'd had when they were young, and now that they were adults, they were ready to explore their feelings once more. This short and sweet story gave me a smile that I wore for hours after reading this. I enjoyed how the author kept the teenage romance innocent yet passionate at the same time. The character development was great, the dialogues were smooth, the imagery was intense and there is not a single problem with this story. The story flowed smoothly without a hitch and kept me enthralled, which is great. I connected with the characters, developed an interest in them and enjoyed their journey.
