I was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. My academic accomplishments are stunningly mediocre. Somehow, I managed to accumulate a pile of degrees. I had some teachers who took an interest in me: Henry Taylor who won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry; John Barth; and Frederick Barthelme. I've worked as an English teacher and as a clinical social worker. I've written 3 novels & 2 books of poetry. My novels are: VIOLATIONS OF CAUSALITY; THE NOTHINGNESS IMPERATIVE; & RESURRECTION 2020. My books of poetry are: SUNSET AT THE HOTEL MIRA MAR & STRANGE ENCOUNTER AT THE SHAKESPEARE MOTEL. I live in Sarasota, Florida with my wife Leslie. Our 2 cats passed away at the ripe old ages of 17 & 18. But we still have a pet lizard named Sid whom we've had for an unbelievable 25 years!

Resurrection 2020 by Herb Guggenheim is a mind-bending narrative that blends time travel, social commentary, and speculative fiction. Set against the 1964 New York World's Fair backdrop, the novel plunges readers into a kaleidoscope of past, present, and future, interwoven with themes of identity, cultural upheaval, and the consequences of unchecked technological advancement. The story follows a disparate group of characters, each with a unique perspective—a down-and-out college professor, a student of pop culture, an aspiring transgender reporter navigating the prejudices of two eras, and an enigmatic Austrian cognitive scientist. Together, the four take a satirical journey into the past, encountering both real (Donald Trump) and fictional characters.

For fans of pop culture, Herb Guggenheim won’t disappoint. Resurrection 2020 is filled with nostalgia and many 1960s references that may have been forgotten, such as a typewriter carriage, cassette recorders, and a Zippo lighter. There’s even a reference to Tab soda in the steel cans. This is an easy-to-follow novel with clearly marked chapter headings, and the book is divided into parts. Each character brings a unique lens for viewing the World's Fair, adding to the thrilling adventure through time and space and a compelling critique of modernity and its discontents. Resurrection 2020 is a masterfully crafted novel that transcends genre boundaries, offering a thought-provoking journey into the heart of a postmodern nightmare. Guggenheim’s writing is crisp, loaded with dialogue, suspenseful, and sometimes humorous. Readers who enjoy satire, science fiction, time travel, politics, the 1960s, or simply want a good book to read, Guggenheim has you covered.
