In Cedar Mills by Dylan James, Tom Dalton was once the finest homicide detective in the state of Ohio. The news team of Cedar Mills High had to come up with an article for their paper. Sheldon wanted to write about Jarrett Stoll, who was a member of the Cedar Mills Devils. Jarrett had stolen money from them, and so they kidnapped and took him to the mill to execute him. Jarrett escaped but found his biker friends dismembered and their body parts scattered. Jarrett claimed to have seen a creature with yellow eyes, green skin, and knives for fingers. Sheldon went alone to investigate the site where this happened to convince his friend to do the article. When Sheldon’s body was found, Sheriff Melissa Cunningham asked Tom to investigate the homicide. When other children went missing, the CIA announced that they were taking over the case and demanded every piece of evidence.
Cedar Mills by Dylan James plunges right into the action, and it never lets up. The story was fast-paced, and the suspense kept me completely absorbed. I found it impossible to set the book aside, and I was flipping through the pages as quickly as I could. With all the unexpected developments, I was eager to discover what would happen next and was consistently surprised. Some scenes were vivid and detailed, while others were grotesque. The monster was portrayed in a way that made it easy to picture. The characters were well-developed and felt genuine. The newspaper team's bonds were strong, and they mourned for their friend, Sheldon. The story was exceptionally written, containing all the elements of horror. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and was taken aback by a significant twist at the end.
