Life and death hang in the balance in the heart-stopping thriller Retribution Ridge by Anna Willett. Millie and her sister, Judith, have been estranged for the past ten years due to a traumatizing tragedy. Neither of them had been capable of facing each other afterward, and Millie fled, leaving Judith to face the consequences and scandal alone. After their mother dies, Judith contacts Millie and suggests that they get together and try to make amends. Harper is Millie's lifelong best friend, and she is also good friends with Judith. She encourages Millie to go on a hiking trip with Judith to help start a relationship. Millie, hoping to put the ghosts of the past behind her and her younger sister, reluctantly agrees. Millie and Harper meet Judith and the trail guide at the head of the trail and begin their adventure.
A frightening mishap occurs; Millie falls and is badly injured, bringing their hike to a halt. Having to split into two groups, Judith and Millie are left alone together while Harper and the guide leave for help. When darkness descends, Judith and Millie hear a woman's blood-curdling scream which is soon followed by another; they are terrified and fear it is Harper who was screaming. Realizing that they are in potential danger, they start moving, despite Millie's injuries. There is a sociopath on their trail, looking for blood, and they are the object of his fury. Driven to take flight or die trying, can any of them escape his wrath or will they all be numbered as his latest victims?
Retribution Ridge by Anna Willett is a goose-bump-raising, action-packed thriller. This novel has a dynamic plot with a spine-chilling storyline that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat until its harrowing conclusion. From the start, this captivating story is easy to get wrapped up in and, with believable characters, it is not hard to be absorbed in the horror of their violent life and death struggles. This hard to put down book is a riveting tale of lies, deceit, murder, and revenge. It will not fail to entertain those who enjoy suspense and horror filled thrillers. This is an intense story, and I loved it.
