Retribution by Sara Vinduska is the third installment in the Fateful Justice series. John Hoyt, a former Navy SEAL, had just resigned his job as the chief bodyguard for a top Hollywood actor to join the FBI. Hoyt and Angelina Nobles were called in to investigate and bring down Senator David Westmoreland. He had been implicated in multiple murders, illegal dealings, and a host of other things. It was indifference at first sight for the duo. Angelina was focused on proving her abilities instead of existing in her father’s shadow, who was a legend in the FBI. This case was a chance to prove herself, but Hoyt couldn’t deal with working alongside a woman who would “slow him down.” However, two of them must put their differences aside to nail this case, and maybe their hearts.
Retribution by Sara Vinduska is a beautiful book laced with action, suspense, and a truckload of adrenaline. It explored love, greed, power, sacrifice, trust, and compromise. I loved the strong plot, as it was engaging and had depth. It was also refreshing to see that Sara deviated from the clichéd “tall, dark, and handsome men or the knockout bombshell woman with a perfect and voluptuous figure.” The description of the protagonists was realistic, igniting the idea that everyone is beautiful regardless of not possessing societally constructed beauty markers. I loved watching Hoyt’s character evolve as the book progressed. Sara also allowed Angelina to showcase herself, even while working as a team with Hoyt. This move made the development perfect! The unpredictability and smooth finish of the story had me smiling. This is a great book and Sara gets two thumbs up from me.
