Cherise Holder succumbed to alcoholism when a tragic accident took away her source of happiness. Strongly persuaded by her friend to attend AA meetings, Cherise meets other troubled souls: banker Stuart, cheerleader Greyson, and teenager Araceli. When four of them share their troubles, an unexpected friendship is born – for revenge. Working together to right the wrongs in each other’s lives, Revenge, Inc. is a thrilling urban novel from Keleigh Crigler Hadley.
The cover art of the book is already an attention-grabber from the start for me. The vivid details of the diverse city of Los Angeles, deftly portrayed by Hadley, are superb. The story is exhilarating and draws readers with ease into each of the characters’ personalities, their past and their ways of getting even with their enemies. I was immersed in Revenge, Inc. from start to finish. With the subject of getting even as the core of the plot, Hadley made every ‘revenge’ scene believable and faultless without unnecessary exaggeration.
This novel undoubtedly scores in prose that is descriptive and personal. For my part, I wish there were more pages to be turned, as I want to know more about the back story of the characters. As Revenge, Inc. is a novel about vengeance, the importance of forgiveness is also echoed in the story. Settling scores with people who wronged you might seem satisfying, especially if you come out triumphant, but letting go can be more fulfilling. On the whole, a true gem from Keleigh Crigler Hadley.
