Rewind Ranch by Peggi Davis begins in Birmingham, Alabama, where four affluent friends seek rejuvenation at Maui's exclusive Rewind Ranch, undergoing transformative surgeries and makeovers. Margot, Elli, Mary Grace, and Lacey Ann each have their own personal reasons that lure them into the resort's promises. In the background, at the Aloha Medical Center, the center's secrets start to reveal themselves, including a clandestine meeting discussing 'global requests' and a peculiar Eternity House. Driven by a cryptic note from the deceased, the group investigates anomalies and uncovers unsettling practices. One doctor's connection with a pathologist propels them to find out the horrifying truth behind the resort's glossy facade, and the four friends find themselves in a deadly situation where more than just the signs of aging can be taken away.

Peggi Davis took me in a direction that I was definitely not expecting in Rewind Ranch, and it got really heavy pretty fast. Davis did an excellent job in wrapping up some deeply seated themes in this thriller that pushed beyond the boundaries of it simply being a straightforward story. These include the societal expectations of beauty, the consequences of unchecked privilege, and the ethical implications of extreme medical advancements. The writing is clean and easy to become immersed in, particularly as Davis describes the stunning landscapes of Hawaii with a serenity to the environment that stands in stark contrast to the intense situation the group finds themselves in. “The sea sparkled like diamonds, stretching ahead like shiny satin as far as the eye could see." Overall, this is a well-written, engrossing, and wonderfully entertaining book that I have no doubt lovers of contemporary thrills with a nod to chick-lit will love.

Rewind Ranch is a dark comedy thriller by Peggi Davis. Lacey Ann, Mary Grace, Margot, and Elli are in their senior years, living humdrum lives in a luxury condominium in Birmingham, Alabama. Despite their ages, however, the four highly successful women haven't yet lost their lust for life. When they learn about the Rewind Ranch -- a place that offers state-of-the-art plastic surgeries alongside a life of utmost luxury and indulgence -- the four friends waste no time taking a trip to the picturesque locale of Hana, Hawaii. After arriving at the resort, the women indulge in drinks, food, dance, romance, and a few cosmetic surgeries. But a sinister secret lies at the heart of the Aloha Medical Center, and when one of their own becomes a victim, the ladies must find allies to rescue their friend.

With a seamless blend of suspense, thrills, and dark humor, Peggi Davis delivers an entertaining novel that might make you think twice about undergoing cosmetic enhancements. Rewind Ranch is an absolute delight to read and breezes past without a single hitch. Davis sets up the characters and the plot nicely, going through each of the main characters' backstories one by one, and this makes their personalities shine and helps you relate to them. The twists and turns are guaranteed to take you by surprise, and you can't help but root for the four friends to make it out alive. I also enjoyed the satirical humor sprinkled throughout the pages. If you love fast-paced, campy thrillers, this will be right up your alley!

Four female friends who feel a bit invisible as they age are enticed by a brochure that lures them to Rewind Ranch, a luxury resort hidden away in Hana, Maui’s remote paradise. Author Peggi Davis lets readers get to know Margot, Lacey Ann, Elli, and Mary Grace, wealthy ladies who long for the admiring glances they once generated, before they take off on their adventure. All are eager for the doting attention, physical transformations, personal matchmaking, and elegant offerings of Rewind Ranch. But will their experiences live up to the glossy promises of the brochure? This book is a quick read with chapters that keep readers turning the pages to see how the ladies fare at the mysterious Aloha Medical Center, the sparkling centerpiece of the Rewind Ranch resort.

Rewind Ranch resembles a mash-up of Fantasy Island meets The Golden Girls. These Southern ladies were attractive, popular, and intelligent in school, nearly guaranteeing social success. Author Peggi Davis devotes a chapter to each of their backstories so readers can begin to connect with the characters. We are like flies on the wall, listening to their words and thoughts as they meet daily in the lobby of their prestigious condominium in Birmingham, Alabama. We hear their insecurities, feel their pain, and rejoice in their returning confidence. As they experience the goings-on at Rewind Ranch and meet others, both friends and foes, tension builds. There is an excellent storyline and a great ending. If you’re ready to lose yourself in juicy characters and dream-like settings rather than literary perfection, the suspenseful aura of Rewind Ranch is for you.

Rewind Ranch is a work of fiction in the chick lit, women’s fiction, and interpersonal drama subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Penned by author Peggi Davis, this insightful and captivating tale explores the lengths some will go to reclaim their youth. Four vibrant Southern seniors are lured by the promises of Rewind Ranch, a Hawaiian paradise offering unlimited cosmetic enhancements and enticing experiences. As they immerse themselves in luxury and laughter, the novel takes unexpected turns, revealing the darker secrets beneath the surface. The book explores themes of aging, beauty, and the societal pressure to conform to certain standards.

Author Peggi Davis has lovingly crafted a clever and cozy read that combines humor, suspense, and camaraderie. The characters are richly developed, each bringing a unique flavor to the story. I was especially impressed by the unique dialogue and attitude of each of the four central figures, as well as the complex dynamics that unfold between them. The emotional arc of the characters was a delight to watch, each on their own journey but all moving through the plot together at a great pace, developing and changing as they bounce off one another’s energy and discoveries, both good and bad. Beneath the entertaining exterior, the novel prompts reflection on the value of true friendship and the consequences of chasing an elusive fountain of youth, with an important and insightful exploration of society and its bizarre beauty standards. Overall, Rewind Ranch is a highly recommended read for fans of bright and brilliant women’s fiction who are seeking an accomplished and enjoyable new read.

Hailing from affluent families, Margot, Mary Grace, and Lacey Ann had always led privileged lives. After high school, the three best friends drifted away from each other. At the end of their various escapades, the trio converged again, living in the same condo, now accompanied by Elli, Margot’s friend from college. However, it soon became apparent that the senior ladies wanted more from life than a comfortable existence and regular Botox treatments. A trip to the much-coveted Rewind Ranch sounded promising, offering state-of-the-art beauty treatments, a lavish lifestyle, and plausible options for matchmaking. Could this place make their dreams come true? Find out in Rewind Ranch, a suspense novel penned by Peggi Davis.

Peggi Davis’ storytelling abilities captivated me from the first page. I loved how she delved into the backgrounds of the major characters, thus allowing readers ample insight into their thought processes and decisions. The spunk with which the four friends tackled life was admirable. We marvel at the extravagance as they submerged themselves in a luxurious life. Yet, in this tale where Crazy Rich Asians meets Shutter Island, readers will get the distinct feeling that something is amiss. The prospect of a perfect makeover, albeit alluring, seems too good to be true. When Davis finally lifts the veil and exposes the dark underbelly of the so-called paradise, readers will experience an intense race for survival. The story reminds us that beautiful exteriors are insignificant and that our greatest strengths lie in the loving bonds we share with others. I recommend Rewind Ranch to readers who love a good thriller with an unusual cast.
