In Ivan Lee Stoltzfus's story, A Puppy Named Ribbon, Robby and Amber, two playful siblings, feel a void in their lives. They yearn for the joy and excitement that only a puppy can bring. Robby dreams of a furry companion to fetch softballs, explore the creek, and simply hang out with. Amber envisions a dog to play dolls with, cuddle, and accompany her to the park. The question of whether their dad will allow this furry addition to their family remains unanswered. Their dad, who had a dog named Hunter when he was a kid, listens to their request and suggests they research dogs before deciding. He advises them to visit the library and gather information on the kind of dog ideal for their family. Robby and Amber eagerly head to the library and quickly find the perfect breed—a Gordon Setter. They want a dog who is beautiful, fun, and lively, and that breed fits.

This charming story follows the siblings' journey as they learn about their new pet's care and responsibilities, providing a valuable lesson in research and decision-making. Ivan Lee Stoltzfus created the characters of Robby and Amber to be relatable and have great personalities. Kids aged 6-9 will adore them. Ribbon and Robby: A Puppy Named Ribbon is both entertaining and educational, teaching children about setting goals, conducting research, and taking care of a pet. The realistic and captivating illustrations by David W. Litwin bring the story to life, making it an ideal read-aloud book for children in this age group or a beginning reader book for early readers.
