Roar: Primed for Peace; Self Heal Trauma for Health, Happiness & Harmony is a work of non-fiction focusing on the transformation of the self. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience owing to a non-explicit discussion of mature themes such as abuse recovery, and it was penned by author Sophia M. Elan. In this heartfelt work which seeks to bring harmony to others after undergoing some very difficult times in their lives, the author expresses their own journey with unresolved trauma, dangerous coping mechanisms, and some of the most profound lows a human being can ever experience. What results is an epiphany and a philosophy on life that finally achieves true healing, and can be of great inspiration to others.

Author Sophia M. Elan writes with a courageously raw narrative that speaks volumes as to how far she’s come on her own healing journey, for no non-fiction writer would be able to admit so much with such clarity and honesty if she still had excuses or resolutions to make. This adds much credence to the philosophies which she has developed for healing, which are clearly described and easy to relate to once you understand the core principles of self-love and self-respect. From here, Elan takes the narrative forward in a really logical step-by-step of building up one’s own limitless existence, letting go of traumas, and replacing them with independent love, conquest, and respect. Overall, Roar: Primed for Peace is a fierce work of emotionally resonant writing that is sure to uplift and help anyone who reads it.

Our childhood experiences can greatly affect the kind of adults we become, as seen in Roar: Primed for Peace by Sophia Elan. Various events shaped her life. Being sexually abused by her own father was the most consequential. This was repressed until her best friend convinced her to see a therapist. Her father also didn't recognize her efforts academically until she became a successful lawyer. Her father also said her marriage can only be for sexual or financial reasons. This affected her romantic life in that she went the extra mile for unworthy people. Another experience that shaped Sophia is the attempted murder by her first husband.

Roar: Primed for Peace by Sophia Elan is not just a story of courage and resilience but also of hope. Hope that, despite our experiences, we can rise above them and start the healing process. She rightly notes that healing is messy and spontaneous, but worth it. This wonderful work also pointed out the importance of seeking professional help and having supportive people around, like Mike. Another thing that I realized was that abuse can come from all avenues, even family members, which makes it important to be observant and look for indicators of abuse. Sophia was vivid with the descriptions of her life events and emotions, which not only added to the overall beauty of the book but also made it effective in passing on the intended message. I look forward to reading something else by Sophia about her experiences, especially her numerous travels.
