The Errors of a Blossoming Girl by Marie Shannon is a gripping young adult coming-of-age novel. Siobhain Kelly learns that her older sister is pregnant and about to get married soon. Siobhain is a bright and talented young woman, but her love life has been quite challenging since high school. She has a crush on a guy named Dominic, who never misses a chance to tease her. Yet, no matter how much she tries to deny her feelings for him, her best friend always reminds her that he is also into her and that she should give him a chance. Now in college, Siobhain has a boyfriend, and she is more confused than ever as her feelings for Dominic resurface. She fears her feelings for him will keep her from fully committing to someone. However, when she finally decides to give Dominic a chance, she discovers it might be too late.

Told in two timelines, now and then, The Errors of a Blossoming Girl by Marie Shannon is a charming novel well worth reading. I read it in no time. It skilfully depicts a mix of relatable high school experiences—friendships, rivalries, drama, confusion, love, crushes, heartache, and college plans. I particularly enjoyed the teasing between Dominic and Siobhain. Their interactions were so entertaining and sweet. Readers will feel the ache of the love that's so hard to let go and that it should be given the chance to blossom fully. The twists toward the end were breathtaking and didn't disappoint. This captivating story will delight young adult readers and slow-burn romance fans.

The Errors of a Blossoming Girl by Marie Shannon follows Siobhain Kelly through the challenges and revelations of growing up in coastal New England. The novel masterfully weaves between her teenage years and college life, exploring the cyclical nature of personal growth and self-discovery. Through Siobhain's journey, we witness the beautiful messiness of making mistakes, falling in love, and coming to terms with one's own truth. Shannon captures the essence of youth with remarkable authenticity, showing how past experiences shape our present choices and how the path to self-acceptance is rarely straightforward. The dual timeline structure allows readers to see both the immediate impact of Siobhain's choices and their long-term consequences, creating a rich tapestry of emotional growth and personal evolution.

Author Marie Shannon demonstrates an exceptional ability to capture the nuanced reality of growing up, especially in the narration of Siobhain's innermost thoughts and feelings. Shannon's writing strikes a perfect balance between humor and heartache, making Siobhain's experiences feel universally relatable while remaining distinctly personal to her. The dialogue creates relationships that leap off the page, making every interaction feel genuine and meaningful to the central heroine's growth. Shannon's talent for crafting complex characters also shows in how she allows them to make mistakes without ever losing the reader's empathy or over-dramatizing their experiences. The sharply focused portrayal of family dynamics and friendship brings even more authenticity to the story. The exploration of Siobhain's personal growth will resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to find their place in the world. Overall, The Errors of a Blossoming Girl is a powerful reminder that coming of age is a journey that shapes us in ways we may not fully understand until years later. I certainly recommend it to fans of in-depth emotional dramas.

The Errors of a Blossoming Girl by Marie Shannon is the coming-of-age story of Siobhain Kelly, a college student, who is trying to figure out the complexities of life and adulthood. When Siobhain returns home for the winter break, she runs unexpectedly into her first crush, Dominic, which sparks old feelings. When Antonia, Siobhain’s sister, drops the news of her pregnancy and her upcoming nuptials, it forces Siobhain to confront unresolved issues and redefine her outlook on relationships. Will Siobhain keep repeating the same mistakes she made in high school, or will she finally discover the life she always wanted?

In The Errors of a Blossoming Girl, Marie Shannon uses an immersive writing style to draw us into Siobhain's life. Using a nonlinear narrative, the author moves between past and present, almost in the form of vignettes, helping us understand Siobhain’s character better and what made her into the person she is now. A lot of interpersonal drama captures the awkwardness and uncertainty of early adulthood. There were several points in the story where I felt Siobhain and Dominic were star-crossed lovers when their paths intersected and I almost felt like things would go their way, only for the timing to be off, again! Although the author has developed the supporting characters well - especially Dominic, Antonia, James, and Helena – each with their arcs and complexities, it is Siobhain’s voice and perspective that anchor the story. The Errors of a Blossoming Girl is all about Siobhain’s journey of self-discovery, the burden of familial relationships, and the bittersweet nature of love and friendship.

The Errors of a Blossoming Girl by Marie Shannon offers a heartfelt examination of self-discovery. Meet Siobhain Kelly, a young woman experiencing the tumultuous phases of adolescence and early adulthood. The story is set in a small coastal New England town, where the author captures the raw emotions of growing up, from high school heartbreaks to college crossroads. Siobhain’s teenage years are fraught with insecurities while her college life seems ideal. The cast of characters makes Siobhain’s passage even more colorful: Helena is her helplessly romantic best friend, her older sister, Antonia, is a lifetime ahead in bossiness, Eve is the supervillain in her life, and Colin has been her serious boyfriend of two years but has never met anyone in her family. Then she meets Dominic once again, the guy she loved so much and who is still as charming as ever. Their reunion highlights the complexity of her life that leads to errors and learning.

The Errors of a Blossoming Girl captures the universal experience of growing up. It demonstrates the joys, struggles, and lessons that shape who we become. Marie Shannon reminds readers that self-discovery is often messy and nonlinear. This can be comforting for those who feel they are navigating similar challenges. Reading such a story allows you to see your own emotions and experiences reflected through Siobhain’s journey. The dual timeline structure provides a dynamic way to illustrate how Siobhain’s past experiences influence her present. This structure keeps the narrative fresh, as you discover how her choices shaped her life. Stories like this remind you that mistakes don’t define you—they’re stepping stones to growth. This is an engaging read that offers hope, perspective, and the reassurance that no one has everything figured out. This is a message everyone can benefit from reading.

Marie Shannon's The Errors of a Blossoming Girl alternates between Siobhain Kelly's high school days and her return to her hometown in Maine shortly before she completes her degree in DC. We meet her friends as they form friendships, pair up with boyfriends, break up, and start over. Siobhain has a bossy older sister who interferes in her life. Siobhain is a good student, aiming for a college scholarship away from home. She completes a great project, but her personal relationships are not as successful. Unlike her sister Antonia, and her best friend Helena, she finds it difficult to make friends. It takes her weeks to realize that she is desperately in love with Dominic, the all-star sports player and the catch of the year. They meet up again, just before Antonia’s wedding, planned in a rush due to her pregnancy. Five years on, and now seriously involved with Colin from college, Siobhain has decisions to make about her career and her future partner.

The Errors of a Blossoming Girl by Marie Shannon covers a variety of emotions, problems, and the slow maturing of many young girls. Older readers may remember those days when actions and words did not convey the truth but were misread. I liked the way Siobhain was too shy to follow through on signals and body language. She was always scared of rejection and lacking in confidence. Antonia her sister, soon to be married, does not help, and I thought her obnoxious character was very well drawn. I also enjoyed the story moving back and forth between school days and post-college days. I could sympathize with how Siobhain still doesn’t know what to do with her life after obtaining her degree. Has she wasted all those years studying? Her reluctance to make decisions and her personal insecurity will resonate with many young adult readers. The story points out the changes from school to college and how life is seldom consistent. A good book for young adult readers, which will give them much to think about.
