Romy by Nirina Stone is the story of Romy Fifty-Two who later becomes Romy Mason when she learns that things, and life, aren't what she was taught to believe. Romy intentionally puts herself in Azure, mainly to get rid of a constant toothache, but also so that she can become certified in a field and stand a chance of working for a Prospo family and not spending the rest of her life in poverty in Citizen City. Certified early, Romy is caught by surprise when she is auctioned as a lower classification than she thought she was, and further shocked when she is bought by another Citizen and not going to the life that she thought she would with her low classification. Romy settles into her life and is headed for more classes when she is kidnapped by the Sorens and made to learn who she really is. As Romy adjusts to her new life, she learns that everything she was ever taught about the history of the world is a lie. Romy learns that the Prospo are worse than they seem and the Sorens are better than the Prospo say they are. Romy learns and works hard to prove herself to the Sorens and helps in a plan to make life better for all people left on Earth.

Romy by Nirina Stone has amazing imagery that places you right there with Romy, going through everything that Romy did. Nirina Stone's characters have depth and I felt like they could step off the pages and talk to me. Set in a world that could one day be reality, Nirina Stone's story did an amazing job of showing that we can learn from our mistakes and that we don't have to kill to get our points across. Romy is short and is a quick read; time goes quickly, but it doesn't diminish from the story in the least. Romy is an amazing book. I will be on the watch for other books in the series as I can't wait to learn what happens to the new world Romy is helping build.
