Author A.L. Whyte expands this story universe with skill and sophistication, maintaining tension across galaxies and making Saiqa’s battle for survival harder than ever. There’s a keen sense of focus on character, psychology, and motivation that gets you invested in what our heroes are going through. This makes the emotional stakes more compelling than ever as we root for Saiqa and Erik to survive the ordeals the plot throws at them. These ordeals are plentiful, but also cleverly measured and spaced out to feel realistic and not lose their impact. I also really liked the way the clues in the plot are arranged so that you see the slow uncovering of the true stakes and scale of the interstellar threat in real time with the characters. That makes the impact all the more terrifying as it creeps up on you for a clever, character-driven drama that respects both brain and heart. Overall, I recommend Saiqa Reborn: The Children of the Stars as a fantastic read in itself, but also part of a brilliant, award-winning series that continues to earn its accolades with strong world-building and rich storytelling.
