Nowadays, many marriages end in divorce. Our way of thinking as a society has changed over time, which has made communication between people more difficult. Without realizing it, we create a code that we acquire through culture and our experiences, among other things. Therefore, if we want to maintain a lasting relationship, we need a new way of thinking. For example, in ancient times, the samurai were governed by bushido, a code that required them to be loyal, honest, and upright in their conduct. These are the values we must revive. With this in mind, Brett Jones and Marie Jones share Samurai Love with us. In this guide, they address topics such as understanding what love is and how relationships have changed in recent years. They also invite us to examine our childhood memories that have shaped our understanding of love, often without our awareness.

I appreciated that a couple wrote Samurai Love because it shows their commitment to moving in the same direction in life. Brett Jones and Marie Jones are certified couples therapists, so they speak to us objectively. The examples they share are both their own and from cases they have worked on. Their explanations are simple, and it is easy to identify with most of the cases because they address realistic topics and the most common concerns in a relationship. I liked that each chapter presents both men's and women's perspectives without using stereotypes. I also found their advice helpful and practical. They understand that dealing with yourself, marriage, and children can be complicated, and they teach you how to manage your priorities to find balance.
