In Sanction Blue by Robert Fisher, when military personnel are assassinated while transporting secret weapons across the Nevada desert, the US president must act fast before millions of lives are lost. He drafts the newly appointed leader of the most secretive division of the CIA and former Green Beret, General Mark Connors, to lead the mission to trace the terrorist organization and recover the stolen weapons. Connors reactivates Echo 9, a group of the world's deadliest warriors to help; Deon Bowman, Simon Kane, and Kane's ex-wife, Sheila Goodbody. Their mission takes them across the globe where they uncover a deadly plot involving chemical weapons and a terror organization with a formidable reputation. The trio must avoid deadly traps at every turn if they are to complete this mission alive.

From the outset, Sanction Blue by Robert Fisher will draw you into the world of the characters and the plot. The storyline is filled with action, suspense, and heart-stopping situations and is evidently very well researched. Each of the three main characters is amazing; the dialogue between each other is extremely realistic and I especially loved the exchanges between Kane and Bowman - they were so calm and collected in every situation. The mockery of movie tough guys was also a great addition to the dialogue and another fantastic laugh out loud moment for me. I loved the sub-plot of Kane and Goodbody's relationship and coming to terms with the demise of their relationship. This added a perfect emotional aspect to the story. The ending was not what I was expecting and is a real tear-jerker but leads wonderfully into the next novel which is going to be explosive, I am sure. A highly recommended novel by an exceptional author.
