Peter Farrell’s Save The Bales is about a small community of islanders whose lives are disrupted when the Colquat Inn, the main source of the island’s livelihood, is burned down. Jack Lennox, a man with a past, works as a fisherman on the boat called Sarah Clark because fishing is the only other source of income here. Stanley Clark, manager of the Colquat Inn and mayor of the island, is the brother of Jack's boss, Barney Clark, and the father of Chrissy Clark, the object of his affection. And as the island is thrown into turmoil and certain bankruptcy, a smuggler’s booty is washed ashore and the whole island finds hope. Now it is up to Jack Lennox to save the island from bankruptcy and maintain their way of life. Is he up to it?

Save The Bales mocks and tickles as it tells the story of the inhabitants of an island that boasts one of the most renowned island hotels along the New England coast. This satirical comedy, written by Peter Farrell, follows the life of one of the islanders, Jack Lennox, as he reinvents himself from a disgraced loser to a probable hero, without actually meaning to. And as events unfold, the story introduces a number of interesting characters who are sometimes exasperating but somehow always lovable. As the islanders bravely confront the disaster that befalls them, the island’s color comes to the fore, and it is simply hilarious. This book is such an enjoyable read!
