Dawn and her husband Noel have just relocated to Noel's childhood home on an island in Lake Superior. Leaving Chicago and coming to a lonely island town is a big step for Dawn and one she took under psychological pressure from Noel. Recently Noel's parents passed away, and when he comes back from settling their estate, Noel demands that they move or else. Wanting to save her marriage, Dawn acquiesces, but as soon as they arrive Noel changes dramatically. He starts insisting that Dawn's health is precarious and that she is behaving irrationally. When a mutilated dog turns up on their door step, Dawn begins to wonder if someone is trying to harm her. Where can she turn for help?
Secrets of Wolf Island (Secrets Series Book 2) by Stacey Coverstone is an electrifying suspense novel set on an island in Lake Superior off the shores of Wisconsin. It begins just as winter is settling over the island, giving it a Hitchcock-ish sensation. This book has an intense storyline with a psychological thriller aspect also reminiscent of the 1944 movie, Gaslight. It is an unnerving tale containing an eerie setting and a chilling plot. Combine those two aspects with sinister characters working behind the scenes trying to establish a facade of imbalanced sanity in lieu of normalcy, and you have a masterpiece. This is a fabulous suspense novel that will delight fans of psychological thrillers.
