In Shame: The Path To Nowhere by Texas Rane, Hermann Dancy has it all - wealth a successful political career and a beautiful wife - but he wants more. Dancy longs for excitement and, in doing so, enters a dark world of greed, debauchery, violence, and betrayal. When the need for gratification leads to murder and an innocent man is convicted, Dancy will take any steps necessary not to lose what he has. But, not even Dancy anticipated that the innocent man in prison was capable of ruining everything he holds dear. Be careful what you wish for because sometimes the grass on the other side of the fence can lead to your downfall.

Shame: The Path To Nowhere by Texas Rane is a captivating thriller that will pull you into the world of the characters from the first chapter. The characterization is superb and their actions, especially those of Dancy, really evoke powerful emotions. He is such a selfish, self-absorbed man. I absolutely loved Bob's character. He was shrewd, unassuming, but so intelligent and with a great sense of humor. I thought the battle of intellects between Dancy and Bob really built the tension of the story. The author very cleverly included details on the backstory of the characters through the narrative and dialogue, which gave me such great insight into their mindset. The entire plot explores the dark themes of greed, jealousy, and fidelity extremely well. There are powerful scenes of violence that were needed for the story but they were not overly grisly. There are some great sub-plots too which supported the main story and the suspense is continuous throughout. This book will not only make you question your motives but that of others too. A great example of the very best and worst of human behavior.

Herman Dancy was a millionaire Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County, Texas. Now he finds himself serving life in prison with no parole. We are told that “a reversal on appeal is his only hope of ever driving a car again in this life”. He is miserable and he is scared. Why he is here, what he did or if he is guilty at all, we do not know. Shame: The Path to Nowhere by Texas Rane is a maelstrom of a story that tells us about Herman Dancy and even more.

Through a generous, lively and between-you-and-me narrative voice, Texas Rane delivers a story that is immensely entertaining and engaging. Everyone in this book has their own little secret, their own little story that explains and defines them. It is that feature which unearths a complex web of aspects that influence and tug on each other in ways that the characters aren’t aware of themselves. This intricate web creates a degree of reader omniscience that puts another set of conflicts into play, those that are invisible to the characters but have a large bearing on their fate. It is this quality as well that invites the reader to contemplate their own relationships and the other challenging material found here. I found Shame: The Path Nowhere to be a satisfying read. Texas Rane is a very entertaining writer who knows how to engage an audience.

Shame: The Path To Nowhere is a work of provocative action, suspense, drama and crime fiction by author Texas Rane. Suitable for readers ready to experience visceral content with some graphic violence and erotic moments, this is a powerful tale of high stakes suspense between prominent political figures. Hiding their secret lives has been a task in itself up until now, but when the wife of a fellow rival is murdered, the can of worms is well and truly opened and everyone is under the microscope. So begins a truly unique perspective on scandal with lots of illicit goings-on and a revealing look at the darker side of human nature.

Author Texas Rane has created a strong and provocative plotline that is sure to capture the imagination of any reader who loves to see scandals revealed on the primetime news and adores that shock value culture. Rane builds a fully-fledged story around that shocked feeling, providing an indulgent exploration of the full extent of such scandals and the graphic details of a world we don’t usually get to see in its entirety. This makes for a really original read as we kind-of root for our central characters to keep their scandals secret but also want the truth to come out and the perspectives to shift along the way. Overall, Shame: The Path To Nowhere is an eye-opening read that fans of suspense, crime and mystery fiction are sure to find brand-new and wholly refreshing.
