Shoe Fetish 1: A Woman's Love for Her Shoes & Her Men by Sharon Bennett and Beatrice Moore is an urban fiction novel that combines romance, murder, and high heels to bring great delights to readers. Set against a beautiful San Antonio in the 1970s, readers are introduced to Carmen, Bethany, and TheLetter. Just as is the case with many teenage girls, they spend a lot of time talking about boys. Years later, at a high school reunion, they are into the reunion excitement — bar hopping, old boyfriends, and lots of fun — until a murder happens and one of them is involved. Read on to see how a conflict escalates and what role a shoe can play in a woman’s life.
Sharon Bennett and Beatrice Moore have crafted a compelling story with awesome characters and a heroine that redefines elegance and vanity. The setting comes across vividly in the writing and I enjoyed the way the authors capture the skyline in the opening lines, feeding the reader's eyes with delectable sights of the Hemisfair Tower and the surrounding swimming pools. The writing is colorful and this is noticeable in the hues the authors use to paint the objects. There are realistic statements and passages that readers will find insightful: “What has taken years for man to build, could be destroyed in one cataclysmic event, like a tornado.” I enjoyed the beautiful writing and the powerful descriptions that transport readers into great settings. Shoe Fetish 1: A Woman's Love for Her Shoes & Her Men is told in the first person narrative and there is no doubt that this narrative style is the authors' forte. The story entertains hugely with the insightful writing and the emotional depth of the story.
