"Silly Tilly and the Royal Rules" is a creative and inspiring book written by Barbara Bakowski and illustrated by Sachiko Yoshikawa. Princess Tilly is frustrated by all the rules in her royal kingdom. She thinks the rules are silly and unnecessary. Tilly just wants to be a kid and have a little fun. She turns the grounds upside down on her grand adventure trying NOT to break the rules, but ends up learning why rules are so important to follow.

Barbara Bakowski does a wonderful job in this creative rhyming story. Not only does she blend in fun rhyming words, but also includes a Big Question and Big Word section at the end of the book, which will provoke questions from young readers. The illustrations are vibrant and done so uniquely that they look as if each page could be a masterpiece painting in itself. The illustrations bring the book to life nicely and compliment the wording perfectly. This is a wonderful story for young readers, especially little girls because all little girls want to be princesses! I loved the moral of the story on how rules are necessary because children do not always understand how rules benefit them. Overall, this book has a fantastic story-line and fun rhyming words and combine the elements of concept, reading comprehension and a lesson to be learned to boot! This book has it all and I highly recommend it to parents, teachers and caregivers of all young children. They will absolutely fall in love with it!
