Spinning Briar by Rachel Huffmire is the second book in the Mirror Chronicles. Charul lost his chance at capturing the Mirror and his actions have now put him on probation with his job on the line. Others like Tia that work with Charul are also being punished for the choices he made. Charul is determined to get his job back and mail from Germany gives him a clue that puts him back on the Mirror's path. Dorothea Wild has her own vendetta against ITTA and working for the Mirror gives her the opportunity to exact her revenge. Meanwhile, Fleur faces her own problems as her very existence is threatened and her only hope is to turn to the Mirror for help. She digs into her own life to discover the truth about herself and her fate.

Each character is unique and well-rounded with clear differences from each other. The characters are connected through their individual stories weaving together around the ITTA and time travel. The Mirror still plays a vital part within the story's events with the characters revolving around him, from turning to him for help, to chasing him, down to the fate of Fleur's existence. Rachel Huffmire flawlessly weaves their stories together through complex plots, layered personalities, and action-packed moments located throughout time. The story sweeps you away into the chaos and the adventure that comes with a chase throughout the different time periods the characters find themselves in. The story dips into different eras from the future of 2069 and 2110 to the past years of 1808 and 1018. Huffmire creates an entirely original time travel adventure and fairytale that brings something new to the table. Spinning Briar breathes new life into the fairytale genre with elements rooted in the story of Sleeping Beauty and delivers an adventure that has suspense, time travel, and even a touch of romance.
