Spirituality 103 The Forgiveness Code: Finding The Light in Our Shadows by Ivan Figueroa-Otero is a spiritual masterpiece, a self-help book that will help readers to descend to the very core, to the center, and beginning of their being. When I picked this book up, I felt that I would be reading some tips on how to bring ourselves to forgive people who have hurt us in life, but the core of the book is something else. It is about forgiveness, but forgiveness as an essential element in the spiritual journey that restores, heals, and situates us on the right path towards the mission of our life. In language that is very powerful, lyrical, and suffused with symbolism, the author offers compelling and insightful advice on self-discovery and the path towards compassion and reconciliation with ourselves.

There are very beautiful passages in this book and some undeniable facts. I read this book twice and went back to underline some key passages. One of the expressions that hit home was: “Living, if we go about it with selfishness and lack of awareness of our interdependence with the universal laws and other people, turns into a nightmare of suffering, with brief moments of happiness.” But we can change that and re-invent our happiness by walking the path of forgiveness, by understanding how our emotions hurt ourselves. In fact, most of the suffering people experience does not come from outside. It comes from within, when their mind mirrors the hurts and pain they have suffered. But they can set themselves free by choosing to bathe in the light of forgiveness. After reading this book, you’ll never look at yourself in the same way and the world, including those around you, will have a new significance in your life. Spirituality 103 The Forgiveness Code: Finding The Light in Our Shadows was the perfect gift I needed.

Spirituality 103 The Forgiveness Code: Finding The Light in Our Shadows by Ivan Figueroa-Otero is a ground-breaking spiritual treatise that offers a road map to genuine, real forgiveness. It’s the first time that I've seen the question of forgiveness approached from an ontological perspective, a perspective that offers clarity on who we are, where we come from, and the place we occupy in the cosmos. In fact, the author, referring to readers as “Warriors” of light, shows how they can understand the power and workings of the mind, and how to use this power to overcome the emotions causing the negative vibrations that threaten their emotional, psychological, and mental health. Only a healthy person can genuinely forgive another person, and the way to becoming healthy is to learn the path of self-forgiveness. This book shows readers this path in very powerful and evocative language.

Ivan Figueroa-Otero observes that “The Warrior who does not understand where he comes from and who he is feels lost in an unending battle with time and change that he has created with his habits. He also suffers a disagreement with other beings regarding what happiness is.” The author then goes on to show how forgiveness becomes a journey towards compassion, our connectedness with what is most essential, life-giving, and creative in us. Spirituality 103 The Forgiveness Code: Finding The Light in Our Shadows is a book filled with the spiritual wisdom that will help anyone to gain inner freedom and to live meaningfully. It’s a book to read and share, to discuss in groups, and to carry along. Its message is timeless.

Spirituality 103 The Forgiveness Code: Finding The Light In Our Shadows by Ivan Figueroa-Otero is one of the most comprehensive books I have ever read about the nature of forgiveness, a work that delves into human nature, exploring what constitutes human brokenness and how to heal it. Instead of looking at the message of this book as one of mere forgiveness, I understood the author’s work as one of deep healing. This book will help anyone understand why they are broken, feeling sick, bitter, and in pain. The author identifies the sources of the inner conflict taking place within the individual soul, and offers insights on gaining awareness, identifying the path of light, and embracing the journey towards forgiveness and compassion. This is a book for those who want to experience wholeness in themselves and peace with the universe and with others.

Ivan Figueroa-Otero’s voice is very powerful, and his writings remind me a lot of Paulo Coelho’s work, The Warrior of Light, in its core message. In this book, the reader will find the path and the wisdom (light) to experience inner freedom from the darkness that enters the human mind. The writing is excellent and it features a glossary that helps readers understand the core concepts in the book. The work also features relevant references to scripture and psychology. Spirituality 103 The Forgiveness Code: Finding The Light In Our Shadows is a well-crafted book that will become a valuable tool for anyone who wants to improve their relationship with self, experience true forgiveness, and improve the quality of their lives.

Dr. Ivan Figueroa-Otero’s Spirituality 103: The Forgiveness Code – Finding the Light in Our Shadows is a spiritual work of great depth that sheds a fresh light on and offers powerful insights to the whole experience of forgiveness. The author shows great mastery of spiritual themes and identifies the sources of the pain and suffering that most people go through, while proposing a path towards healing. I loved the idea of forgiveness as the healing of our relationships with ourselves, with our universe, and with our fellow human beings. When we are dominated by our emotions and feelings of hurt, the light of our mind gets drowned; we fail to appreciate the beauty of our life which is intrinsically linked to where we come from.

This book will help readers to become better warriors of light, becoming aware of the inner battle taking place in their minds, and allowing the spiritual energy of forgiveness to move them towards reconciliation and healing, towards the path of compassion and love. Dr. Ivan Figueroa-Otero writes with moving simplicity. There is a lot of jargon in the book as well, but it is handled by the glossary of terms offered at the beginning of the book. Our world needs a lot of light. Our world needs healing. Our world needs love. There is a lot of negative energy in and around us, and at times we feel submerged in our suffering and despair. Spirituality 103: The Forgiveness Code – Finding the Light in Our Shadows offers the path that readers need to heal themselves and the world. It was a timely book for me.
