Super Scar is written by Melanie Tucker and illustrated by Ricky Audi. A little boy with a special scar on his chest leads a very different life than his friends. Sometimes, he has to go to see a doctor who monitors his special heart. Sometimes, he even has to stay in the hospital overnight. He does all sorts of fun things, but there are certain things he has difficulty doing such as running with his friends. How does the little boy’s special heart affect his life? Should he feel sad about the things he can’t do? How does he feel about his heart or the scar left behind from the surgery he had when he was small?
Super Scar is an inspiring children’s story from which kids can learn an important life lesson. The way the little boy in the story faces the difficult challenges he’s been handed makes this story a one-of-a-kind treat that kids will enjoy. They can also learn that having scars and medical issues is not something to shy away from but more of a special way to thrive and survive. The illustrations by Ricky Audi are amazing and help kids follow along while they read the story. I recommend Super Scar to young children who enjoy a fun and educational kind of story. I hope that Melanie Tucker writes more inspiring stories that can help teach kids to find the blessings in each scar they carry, regardless of how they got them.
