Babies represent life and a new beginning. As you sit down and go through the pages of the picture book, Sweet Baby - Life is Simple by Lan Phuong Nguyen, you and your baby will both see cute and adorable photos of the nine-month old infant, Moon. Moon is the apple of her mother’s eye and the central focus of this book. If Kim Kardashian can have two ‘selfie’ picture books on the bookstore shelves to sell to people interested in her life, then why can’t others do the same?
Reading this book to your infant will create a great experience for both you and your child. Babies love relating and seeing another infant; it excites them, and their eyes tend to light up. This book displays the simple life and wonders of Moon. As seen through the eyes of Moon, you get a chance to relive moments in life by seeing the beauty of everything that surrounds us that we tend to take for granted - from the flowers and the beach to the sky. With a life of just eating, sleeping and playing, this book reflects the elements of life's simple pleasures. Also, as you read this book and listen carefully you will begin to hear your child converse and react to both you and the photos of Moon because actually children can relate.
I picked this picture book because when we see someone that looks like us, especially in an encouraging or engaging way, it creates a stimulation that affects us. I believe that when a baby sees another baby in a book or on television, it creates the same reactions. As mothers, we love seeing our babies and especially enjoy and cherish these simple moments. I view this book as if Nguyen is sharing her child’s photo album. This is a great time for memories and happiness. Enjoy!
