"Twoon" describes the thrill of killing others, first a drunk, then a young girl, then a couple making love in a sleeping bag on the beach. The killer loves it when the newspapers begin to refer to him/her as the "Beach Front Stabber". Meanwhile in Monroe Beach, Georgia, where these horrific stabbing deaths occur, African-American sheriff Robert Kola is concerned for his girlfriend, Sarah James. Sarah owns a beachfront clothing shop and lives in a condominium where someone who smokes has entered the street-level garage and has put mileage on her car. Robert is gentle with Sarah as she had an extremely bad childhood, sexually abused by both her father and her live-in cousin. Sarah has not seen regresses into multiple personalities as a result of her childhood trauma. One of these personalities is Beth, a young terrified child. Another of her multiple personalities is hard-bitten Elizabeth.
"Terror on the Beach" is a riveting thriller that will have readers wondering if psychopathic Twoon will ever be found and brought to justice. That Sarah is set up to possibly be Twoon is a good literary ploy by author Peggy Holloway. Sarah, Robert, and all the other characters are well-created but that Sarah with her frail psyche is forced to spend months with the killer will cause some quandary. The dialogue is well-created; the writing is elementary but acceptable, but to heal someone like Sarah who suffers from MPD is never a certainty and the reader's heart will be with Robert Kola who loves her so very much. "Terror on the Beach" will nonetheless please thriller readers everywhere.
