The Seven Deaths of Vlad, Prince of Wallachia by Christian Weber is an exciting action-filled horror story including one of the most famous monsters in literary history. Christian starts off his saga by introducing us to Jack O’ Rourke, a former cavalryman recounting a dark part of his past. We then follow Jack as he is hired to protect Mina Harker on her passage across the Atlantic Ocean. On this fateful trip, he meets a mysterious Romanian woman who not only captures his eye but also eventually his heart. Unfortunately, Jack fails at his task of protecting Mina Harker and instead is launched into a world of nefarious Big Oil dealings and ancient religions, all while trying to keep his newfound friends and promising new lover, Raluca, safe and alive.
I absolutely loved The Seven Deaths of Vlad, Prince of Wallachia by Christian Weber. The idea of putting a different spin on the famous Dracula story by Bram Stoker caught my attention immediately and made me excited to read this book. I was not disappointed by my choice, as Christian fascinated me from page one with a diverse background story for his main character. Considerable research was put into this story, for the characters, the time, and the places the story is set in. All this created an immersive tale that made me read every page with anticipation as to when the eponymous Vlad would appear. Christian Weber wrote a wonderful, action-packed, horror story with a bittersweet, but happy ending. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a spectacular story.
