Have you ever gone on an adventure accidentally? I know I have. Mattie the Giraffe was able to enjoy her unintended adventure. In The Accidental Adventure of Mattie the Giraffe, Andi Scurto tells the story of Mattie’s first solo bike ride. Mattie is excited, enjoying the freedom of riding her bike but then she remembers that she had not learned how to stop. On this occasion, not stopping became a worldwide adventure. As Mattie pedaled left and right, she discovered new places and animals and made a lot of new friends on her trip. When Mattie finally fell off the bike, her new friends gathered to assist and encourage her. Children of all ages will enjoy taking this adventure with Mattie. As a parent, you can use this book as a springboard to teach your children perseverance. Trying new things is another lesson taught in this book.
