The Adventured Star by Pamela T. Chandler is a delightful story about Najma, the travelling star who moves to Abu Dhabi. During her stay there, she wishes to be the star of Abu Dhabi. The book has some excellent illustrations that complement the story.
I found the book immensely appealing. It excels in all parts and it's a book which every child will enjoy reading. The characters of Najma and her mother are appealing. The packing and the excitement of moving to a new country is all experienced through Najma's eyes. By the time one completes the book, they will have a basic idea of the United Arab Emirates.
Apart from the story, The Adventured Star has an additional theme to it. That is an educational theme. It introduces a child to a new country, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The basic things one needs to know about Abu Dhabi are discussed such as the climate, the culture, and the language of the place. The hot sands, the camels, the high rise buildings, Burj Khalifa, the palm island -- everything pertinent to U.A.E. is covered here.
Children's story books are always more appealing if they have pictures. This book has some very bright, fantastic illustrations, that remain vivid in your memories even after you finish reading. Will Najma be the brightest star in U.A.E?
