The Adventures of Charlie Chameleon: Summertime by Ellen L. Buikema is a collection of entertaining stories that take young readers on a trip with the Chameleon family. Each story handles a different type of situation, and how they can be dealt with using a good outlook and kindness is what makes the stories appealing to readers. There are activities as each story ends and that makes the book fun and interactive for children. Getting lost on a vacation and trying to find a way out, a pet fish, Shasta and the Mystery Lake and many adventures await young readers as they embark upon the stories in the book.
I liked all the stories and the situations they provide to help readers solve the problems with a positive attitude is interesting to note. The illustrations are charming and enable readers to connect well with the characters and situations in the stories. All the stories have something positive to convey to readers. It is a good book to use for interactive sessions in classrooms, not only because of the activities, but also because of the good messages it conveys. It is also an excellent storybook for parents to keep at home as it will help them to teach their children to understand kindness and being positive through the stories of Charlie Chameleon. It is difficult to decide which story is better than the other as each one handles different situations. Children will love all the characters in the stories, and the way they resolve the difficult situations will encourage them to look at difficulties in life with a different perspective.
