The Airplane Pilot: Jake Wants to be a Pilot by Samina Parkar is a children’s picture book that tells the story of a young boy named Jake. As the story progresses, we find Jake’s love of airplanes and becoming a pilot grows and grows. The illustrations are brightly colored and will keep the attention of many young readers as they follow along with the book. Samina Parkar’s narrating style is to the point and focuses primarily on the character of the young boy, Jake, and his passion for becoming an airplane pilot. It is a fairly easy-to-read book.
Samina Parkar’s The Airplane Pilot: Jake Wants to be a Pilot definitely made me smile as I flipped the pages. The attention to detail in the simulator cockpit was impressive and I really enjoyed Jake’s parents supporting his dream of becoming a pilot, even at such a young age. The encouragement aspect of Jake Wants to be a Pilot is something that is sometimes lacking in a household, and creating a book like this will help families to understand how important it is to support and believe in the dreams of their children. There are many places that would be a great fit for this book, including kindergarten schools, daycare centers, and museums that contain flight displays. If you have a young one interested in airplanes this will be the perfect gift for them.
