In The Alchemist’s Way, Charles Lambrou explains about our body’s capacity to self-regulate as the foundation for our personal and spiritual growth, and enlightens readers on how to make this happen. The central idea of this unique self-help guide is The Three Steps, an alchemical process that identifies and reconfigures the whole body-mind nexus, discharging negative energy and replacing it with a positive one.

All self-help books that I have read this year would always promote the mind first as the key to achieve success, inner peace, or to face difficulties in life. Early on, author Charles Lambrou establishes the body-mind concept in his writings. The body is as important as the mind. I chose to read The Alchemist’s Way because I was intrigued right away with its emphasis on body-mind nexus. In recent years, I developed a heavier reliance on conventional medication for treating simple illnesses such as slight fever or uncomfortable back pain, which actually causes me unnecessary stress. So the body-mind nexus in The Three Steps is an attractive aspect that I couldn’t refuse. Other than that, I was very enlightened by chapter seven, Mirror Mirror, particularly the discussion on Carl Jung’s shadow phenomenon. I also love the symbolic illustrations that are included in this exceptional guide to a better well-being.

In brief, The Three Steps are: identify negative energy; see how the negative energy is discharged; see how positive energy takes its place. Lambrou associates his points with his experiences and simple, everyday life examples, using prose that has a certain finesse to it. This is a unique and effective method for everyone to achieve inner peace and rise above things physically, mentally, and spiritually.
