The Awakened Body by Ray Walker is a well-written memoir that takes readers through Ray’s transformative journey of self-discovery and her 140-pound weight loss. Ray discusses a series of challenges and battles with her body since childhood. These include the impact of excessive sugary treats, frequent use of drugs to suppress symptoms, hormonal issues, and more. However, Ray’s desire to transform her body and live a healthier life begins after a medical crisis. In this book, she motivates readers with similar challenges to seek change, break free from diet culture, overcome food addictions, connect with their inner wisdom, listen to their bodies, and manage cravings. Ray further explores critical topics such as the four pillars of health, the definition and common signs of food addiction, food as a path to mindfulness and spiritual growth, breaking mental blocks, and more.
Every chapter of this book was very informative and educational. My mind was refined, and I have discovered ways to connect deeply with my body and listen to its needs. I loved that Ray shared her story and personal experiences, which made her writing more inspiring and relatable. I loved the various exercises and worksheets the author shared, which made the discussions in this book practical and allowed me to self-reflect. The writing is detailed, well-paced, straightforward, and easy to comprehend. Chapter 7 appealed to me the most, particularly the various ways to boost energy and raise my vibration. This is a book I will continue to refer to in the future. I recommend The Awakened Body by Ray Walker to anyone who desires to connect with their body and live a healthy life.
