The Big Ceremony by Ozi Okaro is a story for young children, but it is one that will teach them a lesson. Cheta and Kosi are two young girls who share a common heritage. But Cheta does not know quite as much as her friend. When Kosi is invited to a traditional wedding, Cheta finds herself interested. Her family agrees to attend the wedding and learn more about their heritage than they have been privy to before. They are able to experience a traditional Nigerian wedding and what it means. For a traditional wedding it’s important to follow the proper steps, and this book will help any child understand what happens.

For any young child it can be difficult to understand their culture and heritage. I know that I never knew much about my own heritage when I was young, but I wanted to. When you’re young, however, is the best time to learn everything you can. Kosi and Cheta are characters that a young child can relate to. Cheta is a curious girl and her experiences at a traditional wedding are interesting, whether your family is Nigerian or not. Learning about the world is something that all children should do and this book will help them on that journey. I really liked the story and the colorful pictures as well. This book is definitely going to interest children and it will be good for them as well. The Big Ceremony by Ozi Okaro will enthrall any child interested in the world and parents will love what it teaches.
