The Code is an outstanding horror story written by J.R. Klein. At Graebner College in Covington, Vermont, Nick and Kate found a secret passage under an old library building. They decide to see where the passage leads and come upon an altar chamber. It is an underground room tied to the occult known as The Code. Lenore spends a weekend in the library reading and comes across information about The Code. The Code is a medieval ritual of alchemy and sorcery. Lenore persuades her business partner, Sam, to be part of the ritual. This will enable them to predict the future, and they can make a lot of money from it. However, Lenore has not researched The Code thoroughly enough and is unaware of the dangers the ritual can pose.

The Code was a roller coaster ride with never-ending twists and turns. The uniqueness of the plot had me hooked from the beginning. It was fast-paced and with never a dull moment. I was intrigued by the mystery of the chamber and the ritual. J.R. Klein's descriptive writing style gave me the chills. The events were both hair-raising and goosebump-inducing. The story was incredible, and it was entertaining and terrifying at the same time. The characters were well-written and authentic with unique personalities. Lenore's character made for some tense moments. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages as fast as I could. This book was an amazing work of suspense. It went above and beyond my expectations.
