The Corporate Mute is a workplace series of stories inspired by the experiences of the author, Tiffany Gray Jackson, in healthcare management. The book has three parts: Freeze, Fawn, and Flight, based on the body's stress reactions. Each part introduces workplace personas the author encountered or embodied, including Ms Brain Fog, Ms Lowball, and Ms Searching in the first part. The second part, Ms Secretary, Ms Compliment, Ms No-Degree, and Ms People-Pleaser, can be found. And, for the last part, Ms Event Planner and Ms Christian are present. Each persona illustrates a different way that workplace pressure appears for women, particularly Black women. The stories are told through a narrator named Ebony, a stand-in for the author's own experience, and the book closes with a reflection on what each persona taught her.
