Have you ever experienced a solar eclipse? Do you know how and why they happen? Immerse yourself in a rhyming tale of the solar eclipse with The Cosmic Ballet by Gel See. A day comes when the Sun claims that today is unique. The Sun gathers everyone around and tells them that there's going to be a dance with the Moon and Earth. While they play, the Moon will step forward and make everything gray. As the Moon hides the Sun's glow, the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth come together in a straight line. Kids and grown-ups all stand together to witness this cosmic dance, and everyone has their eclipse glasses on. As the dance continues, Day and Night exchange places, and the entire world stands still. A mother encourages her child to chase her dreams.
Using rhyme and colorful illustrations, Gel See tells a captivating tale showing the solar eclipse in a brand new light that young readers are bound to enjoy. The Cosmic Ballet is very entertaining while educating the reader about how a solar eclipse works and the roles played by the Sun, Moon, and Earth during its occurrence. The rhymes are catchy, and children will find it easy to sing along while reading the book. Aside from See's spirited storytelling, the illustrations by Jeanne Ee splash color onto the pages and add another medium for young readers to immerse themselves in the story. Toward the end of the book, the author provides some fun facts about solar eclipses, including how animals react to them and what our ancestors thought about them. This is an informative and entertaining book that I highly recommend to readers below the age of ten.
