Children often wonder where they came from, or if they existed before they were babies. The children’s book, The Day I Lost My Wings, written by Litzi Y. Umana, answers those questions in a most delightful way. Mochie was a beautiful angel with wings who lived among the stars. She spent her days playing and jumping among the clouds. The stars taught her about humans, and Mochie was given a powerful magnifying glass. She was able to see everything on earth including people, animals, forests, oceans and other wonderful scenes. A strong desire grew within her to live on earth and become part of a family. However, as long as she had wings she would be invisible to humans. She had to connect her heart to someone who had the same kind of love she did. The miracle finally happened one day and she became the newest member of a family.

This book presents a creative, magical way to describe life before earthly life. The beautiful illustrations of the heavens and the earth will further ignite a child’s imagination. The story flows smoothly as the angel transforms into a newborn baby. Mochie’s character depicts a determined, resilient little girl who never gives up on her dreams. There are many topics where parents can ask questions and begin discussions with a child. Author Litzi Y. Umana has written a captivating children’s book in The Day I Lost My Wings. This book will be read over and over again, as children continue to wonder about their earliest beginnings.

Litzi Y. Umana’s The Day I Lost My Wings is a sweet story about an angel from the stars named Mochie. She lives with the stars and spends most of her time jumping from one cloud to another and playing. One day she becomes curious about the world beyond what she knows – the human world. She starts to observe the humans, study their world, and learn about their way of life. She suddenly finds herself craving to feel the love and care that human families have for each other. But she is an angel, not a human, therefore she could not be part of their world. Will Mochie find a way to be part of the world she dreams to be in?

The Day I Lost My Wings written by Litzi Y. Umana is a short and meaningful story, perfect for parents to read to their children before bedtime. The story is adorable, sweet, and soft. The illustrations suit the story well and make it even more heartwarming than it already is. The author’s way of describing Mochie and her adventures made the story fun to read. This story will surely be entertaining and educational to children and anyone who reads it. The story has valuable lessons, such as never giving up on your dreams and continuously trying to make an effort to reach your dreams, and believing that one day all your efforts will bear fruit. Mochie’s firm determination is something I admired and she got the results she deserved. Overall, the story is an inspiring read and the accompanying art is endearing and delightful. This story may be for children, but it now has a special place in my heart. Great work!

The Day I Lost My Wings by Litzi Y. Umana is about an angel named Mochie who came from the stars. Before she lost her wings, Mochie was a very naughty angel who spent her days singing and jumping in the clouds. She had stars for friends, who helped her learn about humans. Mochie loved using her powerful magnifying glass to look down at all the creatures on earth. The more she learned about earth, the more she liked it, and the more she wanted to go down to earth. She was an angel though and invisible to humans. She had to find someone on earth that she could connect her heart to. She noticed that most humans had families and it was something that she wished for very badly. She decided that she had to have parents and every night she sent little hearts in paper planes to earth, hoping that they’d reach someone. The ones that made it through the earth’s atmosphere became sparks of love. When a spark found a baby girl, Mochie lost her wings and was born.

I really enjoyed reading The Day I Lost My Wings. It’s an adorable story about a little angel who wanted to go to earth and find a family. Mochie is a cute main character that you can’t help but love and enjoy reading about. I love how the story gives sort of an explanation as to where souls come from and when they decide to be born as humans. The illustrations are also beautifully done and go along perfectly with the storyline. Litzi Y. Umana has created a wonderful children’s book. It’s definitely one I would recommend to friends with children. I also look forward to reading more of her work.

The Day I Lost My Wings by Litzi Y. Umana is the story of an angel named Mochie who spends her days in the clouds watching the comings and goings down on Earth, or the blue planet as she calls it. Mochie is friends with celestial bodies that are sentient in this story, stars who teach her about humans. Her lessons are enhanced by the use of a very powerful looking glass that allows her to see even the tiniest creatures on Earth, and as she continues to learn more her desire to go to Earth grows. As angels are invisible to humans Mochie is tasked with finding an alternative way, which could take years and still may not even then be possible, but Mochie is determined and hopeful that her persistence will pay off.

The Day I Lost My Wings is a sweet and wholly unique children's book that is likely the first I've read in years where I wasn't entirely sure where it was going. I suspected but had doubts as my daughter read along, which was a fantastic little surprise. The standout for me is definitely the illustrations, which Litzi Y. Umana has made as a star in its own right. It is a perfect blend of effervescent, magical hues, and imagery that is so beautiful that we occasionally lingered on the page to take it all in. This charming book is a wonderful read that will likely wiggle its way into the hearts and bedtime reading line-up of many youngsters.
