The Djinn and the Phoenix by Carson Cashman is a Young Adult cyberpunk science fiction novel with an intense story that will keep you hooked. Packed with action and a stellar cast of characters, the story follows the lives of a host of characters as they tackle the hurdles in their paths. The Phoenix was a cybernetic agent built to serve Djinn, the most powerful AI ever created, but Phoenix started a revolution. Janek, a hacker, was away from home on a mission when his daughter Sadie was kidnapped. As Janek grieves, Sadie learns to survive the danger and understand some secrets that were hidden from her. Trevor looks for a way to break out of prison. Meanwhile, Juliana, Mihail, and Lyonechka fight against the Russian Federation. Each of them has a quest, and they have a story to tell. Will they succeed?

Intense, action-packed, and filled with incredible characters, The Djinn and the Phoenix features a unique concept, and the author executes it perfectly. Each character had a story to tell, and author Carson Cashman did a fantastic job of giving them ample opportunities to do so. Out of all the characters in the story, Sadie was my favorite. She was just 10, but she had a heart of gold. She had huge challenges, and she tackled them all with grace. After her, Mikhail was my second favorite. Mikhail was intense and intimidating at times yet he was determined to fight the Russian Federation. The plot was interesting, considering there are so many storylines going on at once, but it never got confusing at any time. The chapters were short, the pace was fast, and the author left room for questions from readers! I loved it!
