The Fianna Chronicles: Awakening by JF Hopper is a magical fantasy that takes place in the land of Mórradún. It follows Aisling, a young woman who gets a special necklace called the Medallion of Fianna from her grandmother. The medallion is powerful and is connected to the Fianna, a group of people who protected the land a long time ago. Unfortunately, the once peaceful and quiet land starts to spiral into chaos as a dark force called Sable wakes up in the forests of Elderglen and Wraithwood. Strange things begin to happen; animals are getting sick, hunters are disappearing, and the forests start to feel strange and alive. Aisling, the chosen one for the medallion, has to team up with friends like Elara, Calla, and Ronan to fight an old evil and protect their land. They battle against ghostly hunters, dark agents, and their own fears.
I loved how the author combined old myths with real-life situations. The way power was shown was another highlight for me; it wasn't just about magic or swords, it was about being strong in our beliefs and not letting words break us. I related to Aisling's character on a deeper level. She is not one of those perfect protagonists; instead, she was scared, had doubts, but despite not knowing what to do, she just kept going. I enjoyed seeing how she grew from a reluctant and scared girl to a resilient leader. The friendships between Aisling, Elara, Calla, and Ronan were my favorites. Their mistakes, trust, and fights made the story emotional and more relatable. Sable is a scary villain obsessed with his desire for absolute dominion. His tricky whispers and manipulative nature blend well with Aisling’s struggle. The Fianna Chronicles: Awakening by JF Hopper shows that real strength doesn't only come from making choices but from strong friendships and a readiness to keep fighting, even if it may seem impossible. I recommend this book to readers who love fantasy with magic and big adventures.
