The Final Secret: A West Virginia Mystery is a mystery thriller by Storm Young. Honors student Jessica Bloomer's vibrant life in New York City comes to a grinding halt after an alarming call from her grandfather. Encouraged by her best friend, Hastings Jennings, Jessica decides to take a cross-country trip to Tyler County, West Virginia, to visit her grandfather before it's too late. Accompanied by Hastings, Jessica arrives at Tyler County, where visitors from all over come to find buried treasure from half a century ago. Jessica finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation, loses her grandfather, and runs into her ex-boyfriend. Meanwhile, she learns secrets from her grandfather's past that set her on a path of mortal danger. As she navigates one clue after another, she is followed by both friend and foe.
Filled with mystery, romance, and intrigue, The Final Secret hooks its claws into you from the first page until the last. Storm Young infuses some shocking twists and turns in a fast-moving plot that is sure to catch the reader by surprise. The chemistry between the main characters packs a punch, and even on pages where seemingly nothing interesting happens, their interactions and back-and-forth dialogue always keep you engaged. Jessica is a person who is easy to root for, and her dynamic with Hastings and Tyler is what drives the narrative forward. I found this to be an entertaining sleuth mystery novel, and if you're a fan of murder mysteries or treasure hunt stories, you will enjoy it too.
