Pinche, a smuggler working for Colombian drug lords, had fallen out of favor with his bosses, an outcome of failures in his operations. Given a last chance to redeem himself, Pinche is tasked with smuggling a group of immigrants, alongside “merchandise”, through the Gap, a treacherous jungle, to the US. It is not Pinche’s first rodeo through the Gap, and as he leads a group of over a dozen people, with the help of his two enforcers, he anticipates a successful trek. However, little does he know that nothing could be further from the truth. After days of hardship, they encounter an evil force lurking deep in the heart of the jungle, which traps them in an eerie nightmare of gore and chaos. They must not only fight for their survival and sanity, but also face their fears, if they are ever going to make it out of the Gap. Find out how it all goes down in The Gap by J. A. Thomas.

The Gap by J. A. Thomas is a must-read for lovers of horror novels flavored with epic adventure, psychological thrills, edge-of-the-seat suspense, and drama. The author is, without doubt, a master of the art of omniscient narration. The evocative, cinematic depictions of the scenes not only made me feel like I was right next to the well-crafted, diverse cast, but the introspective commentary also allowed me access to their thoughts. This gave context to the dramatic flair accompanying the narrative, and alongside the gritty and tense conversations, made the story both engaging and entertaining. It felt like I was in the jungle, experiencing its raw wildness and the dread within the group. The plot is intriguing, unfolds at a gripping pace, and explores the dynamics behind the South American drug trade and illegal immigration. It exposes the exploitation, despair, violence, danger, and risk involved in both. This heart-pounding read is a horror classic. I loved it.
