Robin Maderich's The Garland Ball follows the story of forty-year-old divorcée Cindy Michaels. It's Christmas in Connor Falls. The local community has chosen to revive the historical Garland Ball and elected Cindy to oversee the arrangements as its chairperson. They have also mandated that everyone who attends the ball must bring a date. When Cindy's best friend, Jasmine, begins a relationship with their old college friend, Harry, Cindy senses the growing need to find her own date. Jasmine and her grandmother try to set her up with different men, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Cindy meets Dan, a single father who, she believes, is in a relationship with another woman. With the day of the Garland Ball upon her, will Cindy find her Prince Charming?
Sprinkled with just the right mix of romance and drama, The Garland Ball is a delicious treat of a contemporary romance. Author Robin Maderich knocks it out of the park with the third book of the Connor Falls Christmas Romance series. This is exactly the kind of book you want on your bookshelf during the holidays. Funny and compelling, the narrative is an absolute delight. If you love feel-good stories, this book is a must-read. The characters are easygoing and likable, and their interactions are thoroughly entertaining. Cindy is a career-driven woman who lives life on her own terms. Her relationship dynamics with her friends, family members, and potential love interests keep you engaged. I loved the characters in this book. The author's plotting is as stellar as always, and the pacing is fantastic. I highly recommend it to readers of contemporary women's fiction and romance.
