The Golden Book: Golden Retriever Early Reader by Lucy Simon explains why Golden Retrievers are such amazing pets. They love giving and receiving lots of love, are perfect for kids, and love to run and play every day. Their natural, fun-loving, adventurous personalities make them a wonderful addition to any family. Even a trip to the vet is a calm and happy experience for these beautiful dogs, even if the retriever is in pain when they go see their vet. Golden Retrievers can be so much more than just pets. They also make the perfect service dog. They use their sense of smell to protect, their keen eyesight to guide their humans, and they are happy to help in any way they can.
The Golden Book is an adorable collection with three sections that show the different yet fun nature of Golden Retrievers. I loved seeing how happy retrievers are and learning how they got their name. The short story about a trip to the vet was absolutely adorable, too. I also enjoyed reading about the different professions that Golden Retrievers are involved in and how their natural senses help them do their jobs. The illustrations add a lot more fun to each section. I recommend The Golden Book by Lucy Simon to children who love reading about animals and learning something new while they enjoy a story. I hope Simon writes more books like this one that show off the amazing personalities of the pets that bring so much joy into our lives.
