The Great Adventure of Tom to Bermuda is written by Emilie Cossette and illustrated by Merve Yildiz. Tom and his family are going to Bermuda. He is a little nervous even though his parents are excited. A tiny friend named George finds Tom looking particularly sad and tells the little boy all about the beautiful island. George tells Tom about all the sandy beaches, how some of them look almost pink. The crystal clear water of the ocean mirrors its surroundings but is way too salty to drink. There are places to play, build sandcastles and swim. George says there are a lot of other kids there to play with him. Will Tom get as excited as his parents are about going to Bermuda or will George’s explanation make his concerns worse?
I love The Great Adventure of Tom to Bermuda! The plot is full of fast-paced excitement as George leads Tom from place to place on the island of Bermuda. The real-life emotions that kids feel when they are told they have to move are expressed by the characters in a way that kids can identify with. I love how Cossette chose to play with a child’s imagination so that a common problem quickly becomes enjoyable as well as an easy to read story. The illustrations by Merve Yildiz are as fun and energetic as the characters in the story. I recommend The Great Adventure of Tom to Bermuda to anyone with kids, especially if they're planning a move in the future.
