Author Biography

Born in Mombasa, Kenya, I moved to Brisbane, Australia at the age of seven where I've lived ever since (with family, I was too young to live alone). Most days you’ll probably find me exploring nature, reading, riding my motorbike, or playing the guitar (not that I consider myself any good!)

Mark is still mourning the death of his wife when his job as a programmer with Varion is terminated. The different emotions he is experiencing at this sad turn of events push him toward spiraling depression but even in the depths of darkness, he cannot shake off the frightening nightmares that plague him. Heeding some friendly advice, he meets up with the mysterious Apollo who introduces him to a parallel world of which he is unaware. Mark has a gift that everyone wants but certain people are willing to kill for it. Now he must choose a side in this battle between light and darkness with no information to aid him other than the certainty that death will follow the wrong decision in Brown Mohamed's The Healer.

The worlds of magic, mysticism, and science fiction collide in Brown Mohamed's thrilling piece of work. His storyline flows with the smoothness of silk while maintaining an aura of suspense all through it. The aspect of this novel that stood out for me is the unusual approach Brown Mohamed took when telling this story. The use of flashbacks, which traced the origins of Mark's situation in reverse as the actual story moved forward, created an immersive atmosphere in the novel. It complemented subplots that were so tightly developed I couldn't differentiate dream states from actual situations in Mark's adventures. Science fiction genre aficionados will take an instant liking to this novel. The fight scenes fluidly combined with the technology chatter guarantee the steady diet of punches and kicks that action and adventure genre junkies consider essential in a good story. The Healer met my expectations and I must admit I enjoyed reading it.
