The Little Airplane’s Big Adventure: Slow Down and Enjoy the Ride by Lisa Hilyard Christian is a children’s picture book with a winsome message inside, encouraging readers to take the time to enjoy what’s around them and eagerly anticipate what is to come. Told in a delightful rhyme, the narrative is fresh and unique, as we don’t see too many children’s books specifically about talking planes. The vivid colors of the images will captivate many a small child, and a grownup or two. Created by illustrator Mar Fandos, there is a magical air on the pages as you are transported to faraway places and lands.
Lisa Hilyard Christian’s The Little Airplane’s Big Adventure has an important message, not just for a small child, but for adults as well. One of the elements of children’s picture books that resonate so powerfully is that they also provide a place for adults to take a moment to grasp the message that might initially go over the head of a young child. If that is the case, they are there to relay the lesson in a way that is understood, and in doing so, the grownup is subconsciously reinforcing that message internally. This is a book that would be perfect in the home of any child or adult as a gentle friendly reminder that they need to slow down and take in the world around them.
