"The Little Fish From the Sea" held a bonus surprise for me because before reading it I didn’t realize that the setting was in Cuba. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a week in Cuba as a missionary a few years ago, so it was fun reliving some of the sights, sounds, and experiences of the country. Art and music is so prevalent there and highly admired, which provides part of the setting for this book.

It is so sad when the little girl loses her 'grandfather' because they had such a magical bond between them that could never be replaced. Thankfully, the American family who found and rescued the little girl after a tragic car accident that killed her protector understands that she is a Cuban refugee who needed protection. This was the second time the little girl had been rescued as her 'grandfather' too was a man who found and saved her when she was drifting along in the sea. She IS the little fish from the sea and she has no memory of who she is or where she came from. He discovers that she is a child piano prodigy and he has to escape with her from the Cuban government to avoid them using/exploiting her.

But wait, there is more! We discover who the little girl REALLY is and she finds her true purpose and identity in life. It is a heartwarming story – an easy and light read with a happy ending.
