The Longest Trail: A True-Life Novel by Roni McFadden is a book for horse lovers. Roni McFadden is a young teen who is damaged, like many young teens. She is damaged, confused and disliked by many in school. Her only good moments in her life are when she is with her horse. Her life takes a turn when she meets a man who takes her on a new trail of maturity and confidence, which changes her life forever. Full of memorable characters, outdoors and horses, the book is adventurous as well as soothing, and speaks of love for animals, healing and triumph.

The author's story is inspirational. It shows how she transforms her life from negative influences and puts it back on the road of positivism. It is indeed motivational to read how the author overcomes the obstacles in her life and how a kind-hearted rancher who treats her well brings a change in her abused life. It is a story of recovery, triumph and transformation. It is an inspirational book for those who want to make it in life despite all the odds. The background of horses, westerns and cowboys is interesting to readers who have no experience of horses. There are some fun stories that the author shares with readers. What I found really inspirational is the spiritual undertone which can be felt while reading the book. It also speaks about the power of horses, the power of trusting, healing and finally transformation.
